Resveratrol Supplementation
Using resveratrol to activate sirtuins and support longevity pathways.
Overview
Resveratrol is a polyphenol found in red wine and grapes that activates sirtuins, particularly SIRT1. David Sinclair's early research demonstrated resveratrol's ability to extend lifespan in various organisms. He takes it with a fat source to improve absorption.
How to Follow This Protocol
Step 1: Source Quality Resveratrol
Choose trans-resveratrol from a reputable source. Look for products with verified purity and avoid those with fillers.
Step 2: Take with Fat
Resveratrol is fat-soluble. Take it with a meal containing healthy fats (yogurt, olive oil, nuts) to improve absorption significantly.
Note: Sinclair mixes his with yogurt in the morningStep 3: Standard Dosing
Take 500mg-1g of resveratrol daily. Sinclair reportedly takes 1g per day. Morning dosing is typically recommended.
Step 4: Combine with NMN
For potential synergistic effects, consider taking resveratrol alongside NMN. Resveratrol activates sirtuins while NMN provides the NAD+ fuel they need.
